Selwa Press is concerned with the history of early Saudi Arabia, especially that critical moment in the mid-1930s when Ibn Saud, the founding father of Saudi Arabia, made a decision that would forever change his kingdom, and then the world. With the oil concession came Americans and some of them took photographs and home movies of life in Arabia before there was oil. We think that these images and accounts offer a priceless glimpse of a distant Arabia, a place where life was difficult but the quiet strength of its people triumphed over circumstances.
